Eastern Shore, MD.
I’m headed off to the Eastern Shore today to see what kind of interesting things I can photograph. Let’s hope there are some cool old houses, road signs and possibly hotels that make for good shots. I’ll post a few shots when I get them back from film processing or after I review them in the case of digital shots.

Update: I did in fact go to the Eastern Shore, but by the time I had fully roamed around Easton it started to pour down rain. So that means I didn’t get to take the original pictures of old barns because I would have had to stand in the pouring rain to do so. So instead on the way home I took lots of photos of cars speeding down the highway at anywhere from 50-75 miles per hour. I posted one such photo on my Flickr page. Go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/ptimer/6950538079/in/photostream to see it. Cheers and have a good evening, PT
Time for a new post.
With Thanksgiving now past us and Christmas coming up really soon I’m wondering where I should go on my days off. Was thinking Portland, Oregon, but still working out the details. I found a round-trip ticket that includes a weird overnight return flight that takes off from Portland at 11:30pm and doesn’t arrive back into Baltimore until around 9 am the next day. That would not be fun.
There’s always Cleveland, right? Cleveland, Ohio that is. It’s probably pretty bitter cold there right now. It seems like an intriguing place to check out though. Harvey Pekar, cartoonist and writer was from there. It just seems like it’s the middle of nowhere and that’s what attracts me to it. To go to a non-touristy area, somewhere off the well-worn path of a travel destination seems like a more interesting place to visit than the more obvious major cities right now.
That’s all for tonight folks,
Paul T.
Post #30. My last planned post for now.
I made it to 30 posts in a row. That’s at least one post per day for the last 30 days, or if I missed one day or so I made up for it the following day with two posts. Since this is my last planned consecutive post to this blog (for now) I’d like to thank anyone who has left me a message or note saying that they got something out of my various writings here, and a big thank you to WordPress for the free internet blogging space.
I feel like I need to repost a link to my photography pages on flickr since I haven’t in awhile. You don’t need to have a flickr account to view the photos.

I feel like I should end this 30 day run with a song that is at the tail end of the movie “Fight Club” that seems to close down that movie really well. So here is my 30 day run ending here with that song by the Pixies “Where is my mind?” in a live performance from 1988.

I’m going to give my self a couple of days to think about if I should do another 30 day run or do something else with the time I’ve been spending here.
Take care,

post #29.- Will the Occupy Wall Streeters create a new fashion trend?
I know this may sound a little premature since the Occupy Wall Street movement has only gained lots of world-wide attention in the last six months or so, but what do you think the fashion industry will take away from the styles of clothes that some of the Occupy movement people are wearing? And what will be the next trend inspired by the Occupy movement be? Will the supermodels be sporting black anarchy signed t-shirts with nose rings? Or will this inspire people to be less concerned with hygiene and their public appearance? Is Karl Lagerfeld, a world famous fashion designer, going to try and swoop up the spirit of the movement by having a dressed down line of clothing? Maybe, who knows?
I’m thinking this way only because I remember all too well the “grunge” inspired clothing lines hitting stores back in the 1990′s after Nirvana and the whole Seattle “grunge” movement hit it big with their music. Consequently their being in the spotlight caused some fashion designers to put their twig-like models into bulky plaid shirts and send them down the runway. To me at the time it seemed surreal and bizarre that something that was once so uncool or underground could be made cool by the advertising and merchandising departments the likes of JC Penny, Sears, and the Gap. I have no problem with how the Occupy movement people are dressed, this is just throwing a question out there to the wind.
Just a thought,

What states would you visit in these “50 Nifty United States”?
Have you ever wished you could be in two or three places at a time? To be able to be in your current state, a state with the best weather and a state you know you’d like to go visit again someday. Now I’m not saying I’d like to be spread apart into three different pieces across the globe, I’m just saying that there are times when you may feel like you want to be able to see more than you currently are seeing or are able to see in your current locale. Is that general enough for you? Could I be more specific? I live in Maryland, the warm states to go visit would have to be California or Florida, and some of the states I’d like to visit again some day are in no specific order Oregon, Montana, Alaska, Yukon Territory(I know its not a state), Texas and Maine to name a few. So if your reading this what states would you go revisit given the opportunity?
Here’s a reminder of the “50 Nifty United States” in a children’s song to get you brainstorming on the question at hand: “What states would you revisit given the opportunity?”

Last night I was lucky enough to get in to a sold out show at the Ottobar. The band was Future Islands and if you haven’t heard of them yet, you probably will soon enough. They put on a great live show and really get into it. The instruments they normally use are keyboards, drum machine, bass, and vocals. Normally I wouldn’t wait outside for around 30 minutes to an hour looking for a ticket to see a live band, but I hadn’t seen them in awhile and really enjoyed hearing them when they have been played on the radio in the last few months.
Here’s a link to a song called ”Tin Man” by them: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GhtZt2HYkM&feature=related
If your from Baltimore or North Carolina you may especially enjoy some of the scenery in this video.
I’ll post some pictures in the next few days on my flickr pages from the show. See the link below:

In reference to an earlier post around a week ago- The Positive Force documentary was able to make its goal of fifteen thousand dollars worth of donations towards the post-processing of their film by last Wednesday, so they can continue to work on the documentary about their organization.
Also, I finally got my first pair of prescription reading eyeglasses today at Pearl Vision. They seem to be working alright as long as I take them off while looking mid-range to far away distances.
If you listen to local public radio stations support them because like your favorite live music venue they can disappear in an instant without your patronage. Another example of quality programming going away is the late night music show “Night Flight”. For those that never have seen the former show “Night Flight” it was a show on very very late at night on cable tv in the 1980′s to mid -1990′s that featured obscure independent music videos and interviews that couldn’t be seen anywhere else. (this was before the Internet was available to the general public with all the content that is currently out there). You can check out YouTube for video clips from the show. I have seen a few clips awhile back, but don’t currently know if there are any out there now.

25/30.-It’s getting colder here & my cats.
It has begun to get cold in these parts of Maryland. Just today I could start to feel the chills in my bones when I didn’t have enough clothes on when stepping outside for a few minutes. I’ve been taking care of two cats lately. One , Moon River, and the other is for lack of a better name so far Whitey Ford. Moon River is my original rescue from being a stray and Whitey Ford is the tagalong cat that likes to hang with Moon River. Also if he can manage to get inside my apartment I usually feed him. I’ve had Moon River for a few years now but the white cat I’ve only been feeding for the past year.

Post #24. Clutter, the Salvation Army & the White Stripes.
Clutter, clutter, more clutter, and his friend clutter. That can kind of describe the condition of my living space at the moment. I have been able to reduce a good bit of my clutter (books, cd’s, cassette tapes, video tapes, dvd’s, artwork, photographic prints, and general memorabilia) in the last few years but I still need to find a way to reduce it even more. I’ve probably donated 30 books, half a wardrobe, 15 cd’s, 40 records, various stereo components and extra kitchen utencils to the Good Will or Salvation Army all in the last couple of years, but mostly this year in my attempt to control the amount of stuff I have here. But sometimes it feels like the stuff just won’t leave. Hey I like alot of it, but most of it could probably be traded in or given away. The reason I bring this up is that I’d like to have a more livable and presentable living space to host gatherings in and also to have a little more elbow room for myself in my own living space. Space is good. I think organization is probably one of the bigger issues at hand here though, and until it’s all organized or partially organized into groups it’s going to appear to me to be a big overwhelming mess. Maybe not overwhelming mess, but maybe out of control mess. If you wish to lend a few pointers to me on this issue you can email me at ptimer99@gmail.com or leave a comment in the comments section below. I’ve already gotten one bookcase organized and prioritized from a few weeks ago. And from that went about 40 records, most of which I bought at an auction for $12 in Baltimore. So if you see some 1970′s soul music or 1970′s disco on a really old beat up record that might have come from my collection. I kept a little of the disco, funk and soul records, but most of it went to the Salvation Army.
On that note I think a song inspired by the mispronunciation of Salvation Army is definitely due for a listen. “Seven Nation Army” by the White Stripes. I believe the story goes that Jack White, of the White Stripes, when he was a kid used to mispronounce “the Salvation Army” as “the Seven Nation Army” when he was actually referring to the Salvation Army. I think it’s interesting that as a fully-grown adult musician he decides to use that as a song title. I’m sure that there are more bizarre song title stories out there somewhere, but I don’t think I could have guessed that that would have come from where it came from. At least it’s a good song.
